SEARCH WITH YOUR VOICE – a site specific workshop at the Baroque Hospital of Kuks

A weekend spent working with the voice at the fascinating site of Kuks, under the guidance of excellent singer and composer Marta Töpferová and theatre actor and performer specializing in site specific work (theatre in a non-theatre environment) Adam Krátký.

Throughout the workshop, we will concentrate on the creative process, the awakening of the senses, and we will try to draw inspiration from our surroundings. We will develop a composition or motif to elaborate – a melody, harmony, or text, and we will examine different ways to work on them further.

The workshop will begin on Friday evening, which will be an introductory session for getting to know each other and the place. On Saturday and Sunday we will widen our knowledge of our environment using our senses, taking notice of impulses that are natural and artistically human. We will allow ourselves time to subtly perceive what usually escapes us, and we shall attempt to capture whatever it is in melody, harmony, text, accompanied by the cuatro, guitar, percussions, piano, or second part.

You will need:
- Snacks, and food and drink for breakfast (breakfast is not served at the Hospital)
- Blankets to sit on outdoors
- Your musical instruments
- A notebook, pencil, and paper
- A music notebook
- An audio recorder, if you have one

The workshop will take place at the site of the Baroque Hospital of Kuks, from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon. Cost: 1550,-/1400,- for pensioners, students, and persons on parental leave/+ 160,- per night accommodation fee at Kuks.
