Moravian and Slavic folks songs as a living source of inspiration – Zuzana Vlčinská

In the lecturers own words: ¨Our country offers us a huge treasure of thousands of beautiful folk songs. Despite most of them being  over 300 years old, they are still current in their messages as they are based on situations and moods we all know: just as our ancestors, we experience joy, sadness, pain, disappointment, love and forgiveness. Learning such song can represent a sort of a return to the personal and collective roots, a moment of resting in one´s self and at the same time, a moment of sharing emotions in their pure form cultivated by music and a beautiful language.

Singing constitutes a part of the basic expressive repertory of every person regardless of their talent, musical education or experience. Unfortunately in this era of impeccable sound recordings, this fact is being forgotten and consumer passivity is the norm. But singing together brings the joy of collective creation of beauty and helps reinforce human relationships. Come experience little-known songs of Slavic nations written in similar human situations to those we experience today. Simple polyphonic arrangements add to the power of the songs and are suitable even for inexperienced and uneducated singers.¨
