Saturday and Sunday May 7.-8.
Award-winning composer and performer Verity Standen will lead a two-day workshop on creating a cappella theatre.
Day 1 will focus on vocal techniques – intricate harmonies, hocketing (sharing melodies between singers), learning songs from across European folk traditions that inspire Verity's practice.
Day 2 will explore how these techniques can be used to create original work. Using very simple inspiration from our everyday lives, Verity will lead small groups to compose and devise short music-theatre pieces.
Verity Standen is based in Bristol, UK. Her immersive choral piece HUG won the Off West End TBC Award 2015 and is currently touring internationally. Her a cappella theatre piece Mmm Hmmm has just completed a second UK tour.
Verity's practice focuses primarily on unaccompanied human voice, playing with scale, intimacy and space to explore new ways to experience vocal music.

Venue: studio ITAKA, Korunní 35, Prague 2. The workshop will take place on Saturday from 10.00 to 17:30 and Sunday from 10:00 to 16:00, there will be a 90 min lunch break each day. The price is CZK 1750/1550 for students, pensioners and persons on parental leave. The workshop will be interpreted in English.
