Friday 6 November - a warmup seminar

18:00 – 20:00 INTRODUCTION TO STORYTELLING - Barbara Schneiderová (CR)

Interactive seminar - the number of participants is limited, admission free

By means of demonstrations and discussions we clarify what storytelling is. We explain what the method is based on and what it can be used for and you’ll learn what are the stages of the storytelling process. During the workshop you will try out a basic story exercise – you will work in a group, separately and in pairs.

9:00 – 10:30 The VOICE And The Story In The FARM In The Cave - Viliam Dočolomanský

How does a story imprint into the voice that its carrier is using at a given moment? The voice is one of the core instruments for the Farm in the Cave theatre group.

Viliam Dočolomanský is the founder and head of Farm in the Cave.

10:40 - 11:40 VOICE-MOVEMENT THERAPY: The voice as a vessel for one’s personal story - Sebastiana Black (CZ/UK)

A presentation of one of the paths of working with the voice and body - Voice Movement Therapy. We’ll show you how this system works in terms of working with voice, so that it opens up sufficiently, is flexible and has stamina and timbre so can therefore be a bearer of a personal story and a vessel, but also reflect the emotional content of the story. And vice versa - a personal story is processed by the voice and movement.

Sebastiana Black is a therapist working with Voice Movement Therapy. She works in Great Britain.

11:45–12:15 WHEN IS A VOICE JUST AN IDEA ... - Zoja Mikotová

Experiences from teaching and above all from practical theatrical collaboration with the Deaf.

Zoja Mikotová is a theatre director and pedagogue, who runs a theatre company with deaf people.

13:30–14:30 STEREOTYPE of a KILLER II - return of the bored - Martin Vasquez

Stereotypes in the story its telling or in the use of the voice reduces the truthfulness and authenticity of our expression. During the lecture we will go through the reasons why they arise and why people like to resort to them.

14:35–15:35 REFLECTION OF THE STORY IN A PERSON'S VOICE - Pavla Fendrichová

Is it possible to hear our past experiences in our voice? Can we read a person’s story from their voice?

Pavla Fendrichová is a conductor, singer and voice teacher (more here)

The voice is an instrument by which the craftsman works material into the resulting shape. In the case of live storytelling this shape is a unique dramatic work.
