The human voice laboratory: The voice as a mirror of personality

Led by Ivana VOSTÁRKOVÁ (CR)

Saturday 28 November

An all-day seminar with respected voice trainer Ivana Vostárková building on the work she prepared for the Hlasohled Conference in November last year.  Topic ‘What can you learn about somebody by listening to their voice?’ seemed so interesting and useful that, in our opinion, it clearly deserves more time than a mere hour.

The main theme will be an analysis of examples of the voices of various personalities from the Czech cultural and political scene and public life.  Participants will follow specific persons and listen to their voices, and, on the basis of their personal experience, sensory impressions and emotional impacts, discover and name everything that the human voice can say about a person. The lecturer adds:  “Voice quality is not just an aesthetic value, it reflects the personality, giving information about the human organism and psyche and their relations. Psychologically, the vocal cords are the most influenceable organ in the body - the voice testifies about unrepeatability, originality and uniqueness.

Ivana Vostárková is a voice trainer who works at DAMU, as a voice therapist in the psychotherapeutic centre and gives seminars.

The seminar will take place from 10:00 - 13:00 and 14:30 - 17:30 at the Pelleova Villa, Pelleova 91/10, Prague 6.  The price is CZK 780.
