30 November – Christmas folk songs from Moravia – Zuzana LAPČÍKOVÁ (CZ)

This year we are continuing our long tradition of Advent workshops. This time, for the first time, we will welcome Zuzana Lapčíková - singer, cimbalom player, folklorist and composer. The workshop will take place in the picturesque premises of the Capuchin monastery in Hradčany. Zuzana Lapčíková first showed an interest in folk music by studying ethnology and musicology at the Masaryk University in Brno. Since 1980 she has been in the folklore ensemble Včelaran and collects Moravian folk songs. She also records with ensembles from the field of classical music, such as the Brno Philharmonic, the Prague Philharmonic or the Virtuosi di Praga. The workshop will be aimed at less well-known folk songs. The lecturer says: “I have the utmost respect for the Advent repertoire - the most valuable message is the hope that Advent music brings. I'm looking forward to our time at the workshop.” You can read more about Zuzana Lapčíková HERE. Application forms can be downloaded HERE. The workshop will take place in the Capuchin Monastery at Hradčany, Loretánské náměstí 99/6, Prague 1, on the first Advent Sunday from 10:00 to 17:30, with a 90 minute break for lunch. Price - CZK 750 per person; for students, pensioners, persons on parental leave and other family members CZK 620. It is also possible to sleep over in the monastery for a fee - see the link
