Nicole Casalonga

Nicole CASALONGA (France)

Nicole Casalonga was born and lives on the south of Corsica, an island in the Mediterranean sea, that is a part of France. For several decades she is studying Corsica musical heritage, gives concerts and teaches.

Originally she studied piano, but very soon she got fascinated by traditionnal Corsican music. Between 1974 and 1985 she collaborated on a research on Corsica organs with other musicologues and musicians. She is the co-founder of the vocal groups Madrigalesca, A cumpagnia, she also founded the association E voce di u cumune which attends to save the musical patrimony of Corsica. Since 1994 she has been the chairwoman of this organisation. She has collaborated on a number of recordings.
