AMAT Laurie (USA)

Laurie AMAT (USA)

Laurie Amat is an acclaimed vocalist, improvisational performer, experimental composer and teacher. Her approach to singing is informed by broad experience including pop, rock, traditional and inventive opera, spoken word, video, dance, theatre and performance art. Her talent for inspiring upcoming vocalists and other artists stems from her focus on the power of the voice as an instrument to convey a pure expression of direct human emotions and individual story told through technique, raw talent and experimentation.

Her pure-voice, site-specific architectural sound pieces have been produced internationally in traditional venues such as concert halls, museums, cathedrals, and alternative spaces including castles, bunkers, cisterns, rivers and concrete overpasses, most recently at the Rockefeller Chapel at the University of Chicago, IL. She has lectured and conducted workshops in Europe, including the Anglo American University, Charles University ECES and Citarna Unijazz in Prague, CZ.
